EGL’s franchise expert appointed to executive committee of Asian Chamber of Commerce
Our franchise expert has been appointed to the executive committee of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in Birmingham.
Gurmeet Jakhu, a director at Emms Gilmore Liberson, will work alongside the new ABCC president, two new vice-presidents and a brand new executive committee that has been appointed for 2018-19.
Part of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, the ABCC is the only membership-led organisation representing Asian businesses and businesses who want to tap into the Asian market in the West Midlands.
Founded more than 30 years ago, the Chamber hosts an exciting programme of networking events, often based around religious festivals, with the highlight being the ABCC annual dinner and awards.
A published author on franchising and dispute resolution, Gurmeet has lectured at numerous international and national conferences during a 17-year career in the industry. He has also worked for a niche franchise law firm, a top 100 law firm and held a position as company secretary at a leading franchisor
Gurmeet said: “I’m hugely proud and honoured to have been appointed to the executive committee of the ABCC. I intend to use my role within the Chamber to do all I can to promote business and enterprise in the region and give a voice to the vibrant Asian business community.
“The ABCC is home to many local businesses and entrepreneurs that I can support in a professional capacity through my role at EGL, whether that be through expert advice in commercial litigation or franchising.”
Figures suggest that Asian communities have the highest rate of self-employment in the UK and harbour a keen interest in entrepreneurial activity.
Asians, and Britons of Asian origin, therefore form an entrepreneurial pool of potential, with many Asians already finding success in the franchise industry.
