Emms Gilmore Liberson celebrate Legal 500 rankings

We are delighted to see that all of our teams have obtained the coveted ‘recommended’ status in the latest edition of the “industry bible”, the Legal 500, which was published this week.

In addition to our 6 main work areas being recommended we also have 12 individual lawyers recommended. Beth Margetson and Anna Albini have also been noted as amongst the leading ‘next generation lawyers’ to watch.

The Corporate and Commercial team are recommended and their straight-talking and personal approach’ is stated to make it a favourite with clients. Stephen Gilmore and Greg Emms were seen as very active on a range of matters and Associate Director Jon Start, is singled out for his ‘patience and lateral thought

EGL’s Commercial Property team has always been very strong and the Legal 500 say that the team ‘has a personal touch lacking with larger practices, and shows attention to detail at all levels of the business’. The Directory goes on to say that head of practice Mark Dakeyne, has a ‘razor-sharp mind and is always able to see the bigger picture’.  Praise is also given for Beth Margetson, who is ‘always one step ahead and consistently provides a solution to any problem faced’, and Simon Jobson is ‘reliable and customer-focused’.

Our Property Litigation team comes in for favourable comment. Their service ‘is highly professional, with excellent response times’. The practice’s varied client base takes in government departments, national utilities, blue-chip companies, and landed estates. Our lead partner Martyn Liberson has ‘a wealth of experience’ and is particularly strong in dilapidation claims.  Anna Albini, is praised for being ‘really proactive with all of the complexities surrounding wholesale exits from large leasehold buildings, whether they be breaks or natural expiries

Commercial litigation at EGL saw a boost in 2016 with the appointment of Richard Cooper and Peter Adkins. Both feature in the publication as recommended. The team is said to be ‘commercially driven and focused on servicing the needs of SMEs in the Midlands, and seems to be gaining market share through delivering on those aims’. Richard Cooper, is noted for his ‘very good way with clients, combining pragmatism with innovation in the application of the law’.

2 of our smaller teams are also highly rated. Peter Adkins’ expertise in Licensing & Gambling law is recognised by the firms’ highest ranking being a Tier 2 position. The guide refers to his ‘reliable and meticulous approach’.

The Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate team is also ranked and mentions given for the work of Terry Cooper, Simon Denslow and Stephen Gilmore.
